Andy Serkis got me through The Hobbit for probably the first time ever. Gonna try LOTR next.

I read something by Tolkien when I was a schoolgirl. The story with the Balrog in it? That’s the only one I’ve ever finished, and that’s all I remember about it. I’ve gotten most of the way through other audio productions of TH and LOTR, but I always zone out long before the climax, and never can keep track of what is supposed to be happening.Same with the movies. Pretty cinematography, no real emotional impact. I want to enjoy it, but somehow never have. But Andy changed all of that. I was engaged the whole way through, and cried when Thorin died. I loved his singing, instead of just waiting for it to be over. I felt as if we were sitting around a fire, and his voice was rolling out of the darkness. Thrilling.10/10 The man is a legend. via /r/audiobooks https://ift.tt/eAJcTR3
