Walk me through taking your infant swimming by yourself like I’m a 5 year-old

Like the title says . . .I am an anxious mom looking to take my 8 MO to an open swim night at a pool down the street, possibly on my own. We could walk or drive. I’m wondering things like -Do you put them in swimsuit before? I’m assuming you change them there because of swim diapers.What kind of swim diapers do you use?Where do you set them down when you’re changing or have to go to the bathroom?Do you like wearing them in the water or just holding them?I know some of these things are personal preference and age-dependent.
