How is ANYONE affording art??

I just recently moved into a new place and was looking for some art to furnish the place. I didn’t realise how expensive/inaccessible art was! It’s either $1k plus for a unique art piece or you get cheap, mass produced prints. Where is everyone buying their unique but still affordable art from!? via /r/interiordecorating https://ift.tt/9PRpJ3g

Are car seats ineffective after two?

One of those viral tweets fluttered across my page about a week ago and I can’t stop thinking about it. It basically claimed car seats are no better than a normal seat belt after 2.They linked to this episode of freakanomics.https://ift.tt/cUbXlpE read the transcript but not the studies as I have a newborn and my brain can’t handle that. Is the claim that car seats don’t matter after 2 untrue? How does that stack up to all the claims that your kid should be rear facing as long as possible?I wish there were a flair that didn’t require links. via /r/ScienceBasedParenting https://ift.tt/ycsnefW

Is keeping my baby home hindering their immune system?

Hello! I am a first time mom to a healthy and happy 3.5 month old. She is following the recommended vaccine schedule, however this post is more so referring to other illnesses, not specifically VPDs. As the season for sickness is approaching, I am wondering if I’m doing my baby a disservice by keeping them home and away from large gatherings/populated stores, etc. My husband and I have agreed to not attend our large family holiday gatherings in fear of sickness (lots of school aged children, cannot trust family members to stay home if sick). This of course causes a stir because everyone wants to love on the baby. A family member told me recently her granddaughters never get sick because their mom always took them everywhere and exposed them to everything. I’ve also read that constantly being sick doesn’t actually prime the immune system, it just wears the immune system down. Which is true? Is one better than the other?I definitely don’t want to stunt her immune system but I also want to avoid serious illnesses at all costs while she is so young. Thank you in advance! TLDR: Will not exposing to germs/getting sick hinder my baby’s immune system growth? via /r/ScienceBasedParenting https://ift.tt/h24TCKG
