Stopped in your car at a stop light? Thinking of touching your phone? THINK AGAIN

I was pulled over recently for touching my phone at a stop light. I know I know. guilty. But just wanted to share with you what the actual process is as a nice little warning. This is what I am dealing with (for context I had a clear record, last time I was pulled over was around 15 years ago and I got a warning):$615 fine, 3 demerit points.Insurance company may raise my ratesI have to drop my license off at Service Ontario and my license is suspended for 3 days.I have to pay a $281 fine to reinstate my license.I have to go to service Ontario to pick up a temporary license until my reinstated one is mailed to me.Anyways, just wanted to share that as a reminder of these laws. They treat you exactly the same as someone reading their phone while driving down the 401. I had heard that the fines are large but did not realize how intense the penalty is. So here is your reminder. Also includes touching your car screen. Want to change a song at a stop light? BAM see you in hell.Edit: here is the Ontario site for anyone wonder with penalties etc.I’m not clear to what extent you can use built in screens while driving or stopped at a light (not relevant to my situation but mentioning it since it’s being discussed below and also I am currently paranoid when it comes to touching the car’s screen). It does not specifically call that out other than gps. Such as clicking “next track” for example in CarPlay.Others have also mentioned that a securely mounted phone allows certain liberties.https://ift.tt/3zebllm via /r/ontario https://ift.tt/3B6eSmi
