Son wants to move to the US for a job. What’re some personal finance differences he’s not thinking about?

My son is an accountant with dual citizenship. He got a job offer for $80K in the US in a low cost of living city. Currently we’re in a high cost of living city in Canada and he makes 60K.I’d hate for him to go. Since my husband died he’s the only family I have locally. But he’s insisting life just gets harder and harder in Canada and that if he wants to own a house he has to go.I’ve tried to raise the healthcare point. He points out 91% of Americans have health insurance. Plus you get it free from medicare when you’re above 65 and his job is a good plan. I say he could try to get a better job in Canada, he says he’s already above the median pay here. I point out the discrimination that exists there. He reminds me it’s a very liberal state/city he’d be moving to. Is there anything I’m missing to point out to him about why life in Canada is better/less expensive? via /r/PersonalFinanceCanada https://ift.tt/3fPunXF
