We got an Uppababy Vista v2 stroller with the bassinet attachment included. When the baby comes, can we just park the bassinet stroller (with the wheel lock on) next to our bed while we’re sleeping until we transition him to his crib? I just don’t think getting a second bassinet specifically for our bedroom makes sense, especially since they grow out of them after ~4 months? Just wanted to share my experience as a new mama with my 12 month old. Here’s some random things I never knew or learned since having a kid:Feel free to share your experiences as well!Post-partum hair loss: I never knew that PP hair loss was a thing. My hair was coming out in clumps in the shower or when I brushed my hair. Thankfully my hair is really thick so it’s not noticeable. Active sleeping: Babies are such loud sleepers for the first 3 months. When I thought my baby was waking up, turns out he’s just moaning and groaning in lalaland.Formula: First 6 months my partner and I were buying Enfamil and Costco formula but it was adding up fast. Turns out Walmart sells the exact same Costco formula at a fraction of the price. Baby loved it and never had spit up or digestion issues. Entitled people: I never knew how many people were entitled to think it’s okay to touch, hug or try to kiss my baby in public, especially elderly people. So many countless of times they would try to touch my baby without asking for permission. It’s okay to say no!My baby wants to be an IT technician: Who knew babies loves wires so much??? and why??? Every single time I try to charge my phone my baby tries to run for the wires every time. Better to make a busy board full of wires rather than get new toys 😂Babies can use straws: They can drink out of a cup and straw at 12 months and I never learned it until today. I thought they wouldn’t learn how until 2 years old or something. I was shocked when my 12 month old was drinking water out of an open cup and straw.Babies are picky eaters: Until they wanna eat the exact same food you’re eating. My baby doesn’t want to eat on his own until he sees and wants what I’m eating. Half the plate is gone but I’d rather have him full, fed, and happy.Sleep regressions: I didn’t even know sleep regressions were a thing until we hit the 3, 6, and 12 month regressions. Baby teething at the same time was like a slap on the face 😂Diapers: Around 8-10 months I let my baby crawl around the house just in diapers during the summer but I had to start putting shorts on him because he started to learn how to rip off his diapers and pee on the floor or throw poop around in his crib. 10.Babies grow up so fast: I didn’t realize how fast my baby grew and lost his baby weight around 10 months. So sad he’s losing his baby face around 12 months but I’m taking as much photos and videos as I can. Sometimes I just drop all the chores just to cuddle and cherish the time I have with him while he’s still small. It’s frustrating and ridiculous. The Cinesphere has both IMAX 70mm and IMAX with Laser projection systems. The theatre was very regularly showing IMAX movies like Interstellar, Dark Knight, LotR, 2001 Space Odyssey, etc. It’s been closed since October 2022 with no re-opening in site, with construction hindered by ridiculous politics. We have no idea why our baby was born at 29 weeks. It seeks like a lot of people had some warning or a known medical reason. My wife had covid and flu A, plus some significant family stress. But otherwise, there was no indication at her MFM or anywhere else. Baby has no genetic issues and is in perfect health but for being born so early.Is this common? Okay maybe a bit of a sensationalist title but every time I try to read something else I find it so… bland?I read Crime and Punishment, thought it was amazing, after that I immediately bought Notes From Underground / The Double and The Brothers Karamazov. Immediately read Notes From Underground.After that I thought ok I’ll read something different, something a bit less depressing… Got 1 chapter into a new book and just gave up, started reading TBK instead. That took me about a month to read, finally finished it the other day and again I thought I’ll have a break and read something lighter… here I am 2 chapters into The Double. Also have The Idiot on my shelf waiting to be read. ​The way Dostoyevsky captures the inner psyche of the human condition is just incredible, at times it’s scarily relatable. Not to mention the philosophical ideas he delves into as well, just such a rich reading experience. My child is in an open concept NICU. There are other babies all over.One family has twins near my child. While I was in there today, I overheard the attending literally laughing that one twin was too small, spare parts for her twin and that she was perfect for the medical students to practice on because she was not expected to live.I’m stunned. My baby is expected to be in the hospital for 2 more months. I don’t want their care to be impacted. But at the same time, what the actual fuck? Trouble is, she also wants to play wit her toy and her dad happens to exist, so she can’t eat because she needs to play but can’t play because she is SO HUNGRY, but she can’t eat because her toy is SO FUN! And also dad is SO FUN, but if he wants to interact she cries because she is SO HUNGRY. AND SO BORED. AND ALL HER FEELINGS ARE IN CAPS-LOCK. So she grunts, kicks the arm of my chair (RIP new chair, it was a fun four months), cries, arches and turns her head while still clamped down on my tit.
