So far my LO (8 months) doesn’t tolerate the chewy texture of scrambled eggs, but I wanted him to get choline in his diet. I now make him baked custard regularly, which he absolutely gobbles down. I took an online dessert custard recipe and cut the sugar in half, though obviously you could completely omit it if you’re concerned about sugar intake.2 whole eggs2 cups whole milk1/4 tsp salt (optional)1/8 cup white sugar (optional)1/2 tsp non alcoholic vanilla extract (optional)1/8 tsp ground nutmeg or other spice (optional)1 tablespoon avocado oil (or other healthy oil)Whisk the eggs in a bowl with the avocado oil.Slowly heat the milk in a double boiler to 180°F using a instant read thermometer, stirring constantly. Or microwave in a glass container in 15 second intervals, stirring and checking the temp each time. This “scalding” of the milk is optional, but it should make a smoother texture.Slowly pour the hot milk into the eggs while mixing with a whisk. Add whatever spices you feel comfortable with. Add the salt and sugar. Mix well.Pour the custard into 4 oven safe ramekins or a small baking dish and bake on 350 for 30-40 minutes, checking for doneness after 30 minutes. You can use a water bath (boiled water in a larger pan, surrounding the ramekins), but I have not found it makes a huge difference. The custard is done when the liquid forms a jiggly gel, a butter knife comes out clean, and the temp inside reaches 160° F.Chill and serve cold or warm. Freeze any custard that will not be eaten in 5 days.Notes:Use whole milk. Babies need all the fat they can get! Giving your baby low fat milk or yogurt is pointless and will not help them maintain a healthy weight now or later in life.Giving a baby sugar isn’t recommended because some studies have linked early sugar intake to later obesity. I don’t personally believe this, and think the research probably found a specious link between parents who give their kids a poor diet in general to their later obesity.Use non alcoholic vanilla if you’re worried about the alcohol not cooking out.Adding a healthy oil isn’t necessary, but again, babies need all the fats they can get.Fresh ground nutmeg is AMAZING compared to pre-ground, plus ground spices may contain lead (google baby applesauce lead). Other spice substitutions include cinnamon, cardamom, allspice or cloves. While the custard can be frozen, it will lose some liquid when it thaws since ice crystals puncture the protein matrix which holds the milk in a colloid. This recipe can be cut in half, using 1 egg, 1 cup milk and 2 ramekins if you’re worried about making too much. via /r/NewParents https://ift.tt/fYynCOx

It’s been 2 months since I fully weaned and I went through the worst hormonal crash, the worst experience of my life. Doctors don’t know what’s happening to me, blood tests showed all healthy numbers, my thyroid is fine, no diabetes, no deficiencies, blood pressure is great, heart function is great. The only thing that’s responsible for my health issues was caused by weaning. My recommendation is DONT wean. Let your child decide when to wean, I weaned my first at 3.5 years and never went through any of this. It was a very gradual process led by her. via /r/breastfeeding https://ift.tt/tfEBykv

I’m 29F, and I’ve had hyperhidrosis most of my life. When I was a teen it was mainly my arm pits, but as I’ve gotten older it has spread to my arm pits, back, under boob, and groin. I know the common spots are the arm pits, hands, and feet, but oddly my hands and feet are fine. I wear mostly black because I’m so insecure about it but I’m so sick of it. It is truly impacting my quality of life. When I work out, my leggings always get that “I peed my pants” look and I start sweating so quickly.I have tried every option I can think of to try to help. I’ve tried changing my diet, managing my stress and anxiety, taking sage supplements, Apple Cider Vinegar, extra strength and prescription antiperspirant, you name it, I’ve tried it. I’ve also tried cutting out caffeine and all it did was leave me tired and sweaty lolI am also in the process of building my health care team, and when trying out a new PCP, I asked her about it and she had no options for me other than surgery, but she really was no help and I’m still shopping for a PCP that I like. Before I was between doctors, my previous doctor recommended a topical treatment, Sweat Block, that does help, but she said it shouldn’t be used daily because the chemicals in it are not good for you… while that comes in handy for special occasions… I need something that helps all the time. I have heard people have great results from taking the oral medication Glycopyrrolate, and I prefer to avoid medications if I don’t need to take them, but I’m so desperate at this point that I’m ready to consider a medication if it really would solve this issue.I have heard of Botox and Mira dry but because this happens in so many spots on my body, those treatments would only solve the arm pit issue and it’s more than that.I was traveling recently and I was in some thin sweat pants and a thin cropped hoodie at the airport and started sweating so badly that I had to buy a t shirt from one of the stores at the airport because I was sweating through my top and the crotch of my sweat pants… and like I said, these weren’t super thick clothes. It’s so embarrassing and I try to joke about it and make it humorous but I really does embarrass me to my core and it’s emotionally painful.Has anyone found any OTC treatment that helps extreme hyperhidrosis? Has anyone gone to a dermatologist for this issue and they helped resolve the issue? I’m literally so desperate I could cry about it. It’s been this was as long as I can remember and I just can’t do it anymore. As I write this, I’m at a work thing and my back is damp and where my hips and thighs crease when you sit, my leggings are soaked… Any suggestions or honestly, even just compassion and understanding are greatly appreciate 💕 via /r/Hyperhidrosis https://ift.tt/wUza8NP

Millennials as we know have slaughtered everything from Diamonds to Napkins… But there is a new generation in town, and will the shoe soon be on the other foot? I have worked in Tim Hortons for a short period of time. When I received my paycheque, I found that they did not pay for the 14-hour mandatory online training. According to their company policy, an employee must finish the online training to start the in-store training. So I emailed the manager, and was told, “we never pay for online training”. Then, I filed a claim to Ministry of Labour. Several months later, the officer called me and followed up. Recently, I received the paycheque of the deducted wages. From the email response of the manager, I can reasonably assume that they never paid their employees for those online trainings. Now that I have gone through the whole claim process, I want to let other employees know that your online training should also get paid. If they did not pay you, do file a claim with MTO. That is your protected right under Employment Standards Act. via /r/ontario https://ift.tt/hLBfgDQ

I had my baby 3 weeks ago and am exclusively breastfeeding. I have 2 under 2 and feel like I’m drowning with my unmedicated ADHD. Before pregnancy I was taking Strattera and it was life changing. I was much more able to manage regular life and motherhood. In the past I was told that you couldn’t breastfeed while taking Strattera, but more recently I’ve heard you can take it while breastfeeding. I have a new doctor that I’m meeting soon so I will be discussing this all with them. I’m just looking for people’s experiences if they’ve safety taken Strattera while breastfeeding. Did you take a lower dose vs when you weren’t breastfeeding? Did you wait until the baby was a certain age? Did you notice any effect on the baby? Any experience that you would like to share is appreciated! Thanks! via /r/breastfeeding https://ift.tt/4GkxSWa
