Hello all,I was writing my own custom userstore class (I have some specific authentication work to do, and its easier to write a custom one for my use-case) – when I was examining the IL decompliled Userstore Code I saw this:Decompiled code using ‘Ride’ view source-codeHere is another screenshot of the full decompiled codeQuestions#1 As developers, are we supposed to be calling: cancellationToken.ThrowIfCancellationRequested();or is this something that is only shown on the IL decompiled code?#2 – What is the proper way to handle cancellation tokens in respect to ‘throwing’ and ‘handling’ cancellation events?Edit:#3 – is there a reason why the decompiled code shows cancellation tokens used in this manner while the actual code from GitHub does not use cancellation tokens at all?I would love to hear your opinions on this. Thanks all via /r/csharp https://ift.tt/bEP0Q8s

Just thought I would share, yesterday evening a woman resident came home to our building and found a man asleep in our lobby with his pants and underwear lowered and genitals exposed. She called our property management emergency line, our property manager (who was off-site) then called TPS non-emergency, but couldn’t get an answer and was placed on a long hold. Our Superintendent (on-site) went to the lobby, and found the guy “with his hands in his pants.” Super called 9-1-1 and the police refused to send anyone because “it is not life and death.”In the end, no police ever responded and the super had to put himself at risk staying nearby to try to persuade the man to leave the property on his own.We believe this may be the same man who was seen in our lobby in August, at which time he was similarly naked at the waist, alternating between smoking meth and masturbating vigorously, and glaring at people coming through the lobby.Toronto Police’s annual budget is $1.1 Billion dollars. via /r/toronto https://ift.tt/m2GVX7v

Hello. Everytime I make a change to my site or backend, I have to commit and push my changes, then login to my server via ssh, stop the Node process (running on PM2), then pull the new commit, and then rebuild and restart. This usually leaves my site unavailable for 2-3 minutes while I rebuild the code and reenable the Node process. Is there any way of preventing downtime during this process? via /r/webdev https://ift.tt/M8c9kLJ

I was reading this thread in r/movies, and came to a realization about my current book. I’m halfway through Brandon Sanderson’s Stormlight Archives and have also read Mistborn, and not once have I been sufficiently emotionally invested in a character to be sad when things happen to them, or when they die. Those books are real page-turners and I greatly enjoy them, but it lacks that depth for me. Adversity always feels like “Oh great, another challenge for the characters to overcome. I wonder how it’ll be resolved in the end” instead of “Oh God they must be devastated, are they gonna get over it?”. By contrast, his contemporary Jim Butcher is pretty consistent these days getting the waterworks going for me (especially the audiobooks, James Marsters is a god).No particular point to this post, just my review. Thanks for reading.EDIT: People have made the point that my failure to connect has as much to do with me as with him. That’s a fair assessment. I think my title was more incendiary than I intended… via /r/books https://ift.tt/ShKxeq1
