Jimmy Clements, Aboriginal elder from the Wiradjuri tribe in Australia, walked for over a week to the opening of Parliament House on 9 May 1927, demonstrating his sovereign rights to federal territory. This is the first recorded instance of Aboriginal protest at the Parliament.
