No more using FOMO when it comes to the housing market. We are experiencing housing insecurity.

This cute little term used to refer to the social idiosincracy you felt when you didn’t want to go to an event but you were a little afraid something cool would happen and you’d miss out.FOMO was usually framed as an irrational fear. You end up going to the event and realize it was exactly as expected and you missed out on nothing.Adorable.The prospect of having to save for 10-15 years to afford a down-payment on a home when you are college educated 30 year old working professional isn’t FOMO. We are afraid that houses will double in value in 10 years. You know, like they have for the past 30 years. That is a 7% annual growth rate.This feeling is called housing insecurity.
