I illustrated a tiny new cover for every book I read last year
As a bit of a motivator to keep myself reading, I decided to create a mini illustration for every book that I read in 2018. I began the year by drawing a bunch of tiny little blank books which I then cut out and placed in all the books I intended to read. These tiny blank books served two functions, first and foremost they were great bookmarks. More importantly, however, having the goal of illustrating a new cover gave me the chance to think a little more about the themes, ideas and motifs of the novels, instead of just forgetting them immediately or moving onto the next book. I found it really helpful and a great way to enjoy the books more than I have before.I didn’t read all of the books on my initial list as it kept growing and changing, but I definitely read more than I had intended. I bailed on two books, which is the first time I’ve done that, and I have two books on the go at the moment which I didn’t manage to finish before the year ended. I really enjoyed the project and am planning on continuing it indefinitely. If you’re interested, you can view all of my book illustrations, as well as the brief comment I made about each of them, here: http://bit.ly/2FbwxiM whole thing was inspired by the #minimonotonebookclub on instagram from 2017, created by Alexis Winter. via /r/books http://bit.ly/2TBpGU3
